Base Dressing

Why Base Dressing? Well, from here you can make any salad with a few add-ons. Easier to feel inspired about making homemade dressing, and eating yummy salads at home! Also easy to make for 1 - 100! I have two or three of these going at a time. They don’t spoil and they always taste good!

The Base Ingredients - Pour all the below in a jar and shake before pouring over your salad!

3/4 cup of olive oil - get the good stuff, you can taste the difference

1/4 cup rice wine vinegar - so much smoother and less acidy than regular vinegar. If you end up with the seasoned kind see Asian Salad, and Caesar Salad below. They match nicely!

Dash Worcestershire Sauce

Dash Tapatillo or other Taco style hot sauce

So, from the Base you can make the following ( I will add some ideas for each) After you have composed any of these sprinkle some Maldon Salt on the top. It’s a game changer.

  • Greek Salad - Add to Base: Oregano, 1/2 Tablespoon Lemon or White Vinegar,

    • Use Romaine or Green Leaf Lettuce + tomato, Kalamata olives, pepperoni, and a light cheese

  • Caesar Salad - Add to Base: Fish Sauce! Yes Fish Sauce! and Two Cloves Minced Garlic

    • Use Romaine Lettuce or Kale if you like. Add Parmesan

  • Asian Salad - Add Sesame Oil, Fish Sauce

    • Use chopped up cabbage (preferably green not purple), carrots, cilantro, green onion, pepitas or other seed you have (pecans, pinenuts, slivered almonds)

  • Green Garden Salad - Keep As is!

    • Use Butter Lettuce, Tomato, Avocado, Green Onion

  • Veggie Crunch Salad - Keep as is and Clean out the leftovers

    • Chop Up whatever leftover veggies you have in the fridge. Broccoli with a little onion. Carrots with Eggplant and pepitas, the sky is limit. If you like add a little nutritional yeast after you put on the dressing for some extra tang!

  • Bruschetta - Add Balsamic Vinegar and 2 cloves minced garlic

    • Dice Tomato, Basil and Garlic, if you have avocado its yummy in here too!
